I look at the mirror
and see a face I so hate to see.
Take the tape, measure 'bout my waist
Compare the scale at my feet.

170, it says, so I will change it.

I look at the mirror
and with a better face I meet.
Take the tape, measure 'bout my waist
Compare the scale at my feet.

140, it says.
It is better.

Fat-free, reduced salt, low calories
I know that I am better
Before I even look at the mirror.

110, it says. I am right.

Skipped meals, no more meat.
I will make the weight on that scale
Go down and down.

99, it says. I am below 100.
Good. I feel too weak to stand on the scale.

Go to a party. Eat.
Run to the toilet. Out it goes.
Skip dinner that night, I can't afford to gain weight.
Suddenly the world spins, my vision turns grey
but there's no one around, I'm alone
Drag myself to the scale, haven't seen it all day.

89, it says.
But I can't care.

One week passes.
I weigh 8 pounds.
But I am in a jar.
