Another Shattered Soul

And no word in the english language

could describe the feeling of dread

that fell upon me while walking towards him

He stared into my eyes, knowing the

pain that'll soon flow out of my mouth,

and into his heart

Tears hugged the corners of his eyes

refusing to let go

I did not feel guilt.

I did not feel sorrow.

I felt pity, seeing him break so easily.

He used to be the tallest evergreen tree

standing high and proud despite the weather

But now he was the empty branches

of a maple tree during fall

As much as I wanted to stay

to be his saving grace

I couldn't.

Because I was a bad apple,

and he didn't need my poison.

And seeing him

day after day was torture

Knives carving the words I told him

into my skin

The imprint of a thousand tears showed on his face

but he refused to look at me

ever again.

No poem is ever written for the heartbreakers

We are the enemies, we draw people away as easy as we drew them near

These words are for those who have done bad things to good people,

for those who have hurt.
