ANOTHER SOUL FALLS DOWN
Another Soul Falls Down…..
The roar of thunder
Afar from cannon,
Earth erupting,
Sacrificing,
Giving up of life
As the thunder roars,
Another soul falls down.
Followed by a crack
A report,
Angry retort,
From distant barrel
It finds its mark,
Another soul falls down.
Smoky haze
Poisonous brew,
Burnt eyes
Lungs on fire,
Lips that gasp,
No escape now,
Another soul falls down.
Like headless chook!
Round and around
Thousand-yard stare,
Of mindless mind,
Of where oh where am I?
Alone,
Fear of spirit,
Another soul falls down.
Soldier boy
Not quite a man,
Can’t even shave,
From far, far away
Overseas
From family, home and land,
Now lays under
Another soul falls down.
Brown paper package delivered,
A dead man’s penny,
A medal,
A certificate,
Message from the king,
Soldier boy;
Only a memory now
Of a God given son,
As another soul falls down...
