Answers?
Please tell me why?
Why’s it gotta be like this?
Please?
So many questions coming from the mouth of a boy
And he was so innocent, so pure
And deserved so much more
Where were the words?
I had no words. I had no answers.
To him I could not lie.
But what could I say?
Why? Why? Why?
His questions haunted me at night.
A kid I didn’t help.
At least not in the way that mattered most.
I had no knowledge, no skills, no answers.
If I could change one thing,
I would go back and say,
Well here’s what we’ll do first.
Because one day soon I will be a child advocacy attorney.
I will have the knowledge and the skills
to help seek out the answers.
Together, we will fight and find a way.
Families reunited, second chances, kids choosing their own futures;
I will finally say
Let me help you find the way
