Anteros, to an Eros-Afflicted Lover

Shadows splay across my face

where your fingers used to play,

Absence of the kiss

that would warm my lips,

In your grip as we stared into the abyss

Maybe there’s something to be said about this whole

‘Letting what you love fly free’,

Hold me close a while longer,

Tell me that you can be stronger

than I could ever be,

Because love never meant so much to me

Wind blown flakes, and your yearning aches

falling on my skin like snow,

Time, with no remorse and no easy course

speeds on by while I cling to what I know

There could be the slightest chance of this whole thing working out

exactly as it should be,

But for now, I’ll stay changed

with my heart rearranged,

Waiting for your lust to leave,

And be left with a love only for me

Stay, stay with me, please

in this silence,

Let it stick to our souls

Watch stars catch in the trees

and float on the breeze,

Feel the warmth down your spine,

Tell me we will be fine,

Tell me I’m still yours

and you’re still mine

‘Cause if there was the slightest chance that this whole thing could work out

where you could still love me,

My colors would be brighter

and my feelings would feel lighter

and my heart could beat without grief,

But you’ve flown, and left me to beliefs
