The Anthem

You smile as you realize that there is nowhere else you would rather be It is so quiet, you can hear the wind through the trees Others like the howling of sirens and the mumble of voices around them But you know that there is nothing better than the anthem People ask what the anthem is The chirp of a bird or the buzz of a bee You stop and wonder what the anthem really is The anthem is whatever you want it to be To others it could be sirens, voices, and horns But to you, it is what keeps you from being torn The place or sound that keeps you sane This place is loud, quiet, possibly in your brain The anthem is anything you want it to be The thing is that you need to find it on your own Because no one else is you and no one else is me Do not cry, do not moan You will find your anthem somewhere, somehow Someday it will come to you, that, I vow

Most poems have one set meaning but this poem can be many things to many different people. It is where the reader finds peace and where the reader feels comfortable
