the antithesis of a partnership

dear brain,

the thing is, we’re screwed.

the thing is, we’re at the end of the line.

the thing is, we’re tired and hungry and desperate and you are stuck in a negative feedback loop and i am stuck with you and

there’s no getting out of this one.

because the thing is, you don’t know how to cooperate

and i don’t know how to change

so we’re trapped in the antithesis of a partnership,

the moment before the bullet leaves the gun but the trigger’s already been pressed.

and you know someone is going to die

but the smoking barrel obscures who it was aiming for.

let’s face it, though,

you were never getting out of this life alive, anyway
