Anxiety

Anxiety

The silence seems too long.

I feel as if all eyes are on me,

watching, waiting, daring me to make a wrong move.

It’s torture, the expectations and pressures that are loaded onto my shoulders.

Day by day, the weight breaks me, and drains my hope and my life.

This is anxiety.

Fearing what might not even occur, and worrying about matters that don’t deserve worry.

Everyone always says, “it’ll get better” and “hang in there”

and honestly, after nine years, hearing those words gets old.

But over the past year, the anxiety faded, and I didn’t realize it was gone until my therapist asked her usual question.

“on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst, how bad is your anxiety?”

And for the first time ever,

I happily responded with a 1.
