Anxiety

All alone but hearing everything,

Every whisper

Grown from nothing,

Yet each cuts deeper than the last.

Electricity coursing through me.

Every inch,

Every bone.

Are there 206?

When did I learn it?

Am I wasting time?

Where am I heading?

What’s that point of it all?

What if it’s all for nothing?

How do I make this all stop?

This feeling is born from a Greek myth

But my boulder is just in my mind.

It could be worse,

But it feels like drowning--

Being pulled under the water,

A weight tied to my foot--

But it’s of my own making.

In that way,

I untie the rope,

Freeing me from weight.

I rise.

Break the surface

And feel the air my lungs did crave.

I need not fear the unknown,

For I have conquered

And I have survived.
