Anxiety

The room is shaking.

Everything is spinning.

I'm trying to find something to grip but nothing's there.

Why can't I feel anything?

The blurred face of my friends running towards me burns in my memory.

I feel the impact of my body as it hits the floor.

My heart pounding, head numb.

This is my life now.

Like a dark monster inside of me,

It grew with all the words of the world.

Bottling up my emotions never mixd well with everything inside.

The presentations and projects never helped.

People believe that anxiety is something I made up.

Something that only exists in medical books or in dystopian worlds.

Little did they know it could happen in anyone.

Little did they know that could happen to me.

A straight-A student, perfect attendence, has-her-life-together type of person.

All perfect on the outside,

But little did they know what was happening inside of me.

Didn't tell my parents; they don't believe in mental illness.

Didn't tell my teachers; they only care about the awards and medals.

Didn't tell me friends; I don't want them to treat me differently.

I believed it wasn't important.

No one really talks about teen mental health.

How the stress can slowly poison you,

How to recieve help for yourself.

No matter who you are, who you believe you are,

There are always people waiting for you.

Receiving help is never wrong.
