Anxiety

Anxiety is a plague in which my mind plays prisoner.

Watching, waiting, worrying.. who am i?

They seem my smile- the fale perception,

Do they feel my mind?

Struggling in the abyss of pressure,

The pillow feels my screams.

I am a daisy in under-nournished soil,

A deep brown desiring to be gold.

I long for sunlight,

I long for a bright future,

Help me grow.

Winning this scholarship will help attain my goals of becoming a New York City business woman because my single dad struggles to afford to pay for three college tuitions. I would like to prove my skills as a leader and an entrepreneur. My dream is to attend Pace University located in Pleasantville, New York. However, the tuition expenses are currently outside my reach although I have been accepted with an academic scholarship. Signing loans has been very hard for my father, an Army veteran, and I hope one day to repay him. My dad is a fighter and my hero. After my mother left our family, he is the one who took me and my two older brothers under his wing. My dad taught me everything I know but it wasn’t always easy as he struggled to put a roof over our heads. I want to prove to my mom who had abandoned our family when I was still an adolescent that I will be successful and make a difference in the world. I want to prove to myself that I am a valuable asset and I can do whatever I set my mind to. Upon completion of my goal, I wish to someday open a daycare for children suffering from poverty to give back to the community which helped me grow. Volunteering regularly at the homeless shelter has taught me that all children need love and a good place to call home. Please help me complete my goal.
