Anxiety is switched on

The fear swirls in and

The sounds are muffled and

The lights burn brighter and

The shadows encroach further and

Nobody reacts the same as I and

My eyes dart around the room and

Will it take over and

This will go on forever? 

The staggered breaths and 

The zooming heart and

The trembling hands and 

The floor disappearing and

Nobody here cares and

It’s just me and

I must flee and 

Be forgotten again.
