Anxious Mind

The clock just keeps ticking on the wall so I look to find it, so I can throw something at it turns out it wasn’t even a clock It was just my brain- telling me that time was slowly being wasted - It’s not that I didn’t do things today that needed to be done It’s just that It was all related to money so it seemed kind of wasteful to me I could have written a novel instead - Sometimes I spend hours looking for quick-fixes If I’m motivated enough I might read a book- on how to motivate yourself to read more Or I might play that same piano piece I’ve been playing for the past four years I might search for information on the internet about how nobodies like me became somebodies like Mark Zuckerburg. Unfortunately I can’t afford to go to Harvard So I create a new tab and go to netflix and turn on 30 Rock - Why can’t the great parts of life be easy? Why do we have to train for things- why do we have to work hard? Why do we have to fight against ourselves? - Tick, tick, tick- the clock is going, time is not standing still for me Even though I told it to. - I have to write an essay but I can’t stop feeling as if the world is flat Technically the world is round but it doesn’t seem very dynamic when you take out the heart and soul - I try to explain but I can’t Why the world seems so static to me And how I’m so immobile - Photographers capture pictures of pretty things Make it seem like moments of perfection extend on and on But they don’t- believe me I tried and it was only a train wreck - The clock is ticking Time is going, going, going….gone -Why am I always thinking and never doing The writing of this poem is mere self-indulgence Why am I always thinking because time is running out…
