An Apology to the Men

***Note: This may not seem like your average "inspiration" poem. However, with the current situation of our country, I find one of the most inspiring things to be to prove to the world that women are just as powerful, strong and abled as men. That is what inspires me to create a better future. 

We would like to apologize 

For the extra time you have to spend 

To help us understand 

The work that is simple to you

It just takes a lot longer 

For information to get 

Through our thick and silky hair 

All the way to our teeny tiny brains 

We would like to apologize 

For our behavior during 

“That time of the month” 

And the fact that you could see 

A tampon sticking out of my pocket 

As I walked to the bathroom 

During a visit from

“Aunt flow” 

I hope you know it was an accident- 

You shouldn’t have to deal with

Basic human functions 

We would like to apologize 

For complaining about injustice in the world 

Sure we’re paid less than you

But we don’t deserve the same amount 

What would we need money for 

Other than to get our nails done 

And spend hours at the mall 

Just to find

The perfect dress

To impress you

We would like to apologize 

For walking around 

Practically naked 

It’s unfair for you to 

Be forced to look at 

Our scandalous and sexy shoulders 

And our intimate and exposing knees 

You shouldn’t have to control yourselves 

With our taunting attitudes 

But most of all, we would like to apologize 

For being just as smart as you are 

For being allowed to have emotions 

For standing up for what’s right 

For dressing in clothes that we want to wear 

And for being equal 

From the bottoms of our hearts, 

We would like to apologize.
