An Apology to My Past Self

To my past self,

I am sincerely sorry for the way that I treated you,

for the things I allowed you to tolerate

I wish I wouldn’t have made you feel as though your emotions were nothing but an invalidity

that was not only inconvenient for me, but for everyone around you.

I’m sincerely sorry for not allowing you to explore the things that made you happy,

for locking you into the mundane ways of society

with no wiggle room to explore your true passionate self

I’m sorry I did not treat and raise you the way you should have been treated and raised

I wish for nothing but to go back in time and save you from all of the hurt you are experiencing

I’m sorry, and I would give anything to allow you nothing but innocence

when you needed it most

Sincerely, Kara Thomann
