To, Arcas

To, Arcas

We dreamed up a place called quiet nebula,
It was here I asked you about the stars
And you told me how you wept for Callisto
Calling for her, you pleaded she be set free
And she never was and you never were
Forever stuck to skies
Painted yellow you looked content
But really you were grounded grey
Not a light for miles but a sad existence

So when I found you, ready to leave
I asked you about the stars
And you told me how you wept for purpose
For more than just the gods and celestial bodies
And I told you
“There is more to life than the darkness.
Don’t you remember me?
Remember the days you asked me about the sun
And how I told you
The rays would beam down and fill this world with life.”

And you looked at me, and you knew.
