Arch-nemesis
It tempts, deceives, lies, steals, and seduces.
It destroys, cheats, corrupts, defiles, and blasphemes.
It hinders, accuses, distorts, hates, and beguiles.
The flesh, a self-centered nature inclined to sin, desires evil.
Ferociously marking one with selfishness and pride,
Disobedience and rebellion, impatience and hatred,
The flesh endangers one’s soul since birth.
Every instant, it attacks one with the lust of the eyes
And the lust of the flesh, burning and destroying the soul.
But let go of these desires and let God in.
Inside will lie the Holy Spirit, if invited, if wanted.
Allow God and his Holy Spirit to guide you in fighting this constant warfare
With the ferocious flesh and the fervent Spirit.
Pure-heartedly, yield to God’s Holy Spirit through faith.
By virtue of our union with Jesus Christ,
We have victory over sin in our lives.
Christ’s sacrifice empowers us to rebuke.
Rebuke temptation, seduction, and darkness.
Rebuke filthiness, inner lusts, and internal defeat.
Communion with God remains key—
The key to our hearts, the key to our happiness, and the key to our victory.
