Archer

Looking up

I will see

the Archer

high above me

his bow

pointing at me

his star eyes

staring coldly

fear

it surrounds me

as I flee

knees collapsing

under me

I close my eyes

surrounded by black

as he forms

in my mind

I see

he is trying

to destroy me

bow of pain

arrow of hope

he sees

how happy

I can be.

As he shoots me

hope burning

then freezing

as words surround me

his eyes

cold

and he fades away

leaving me

shivering and lonely

then arms wrap around me

tightly

worry in their words

broken promises of

"you'll be okay"

the arrow injury

burns

as I become

hopeful

the flames

lick my insides

burning me

suffocating me

finally

they fade

as the hope

goes on holiday

leaving me hollow

empty

broke

till the next day

when I see

just how happy

everyone can be

leaving

the archer

to chase me

shoot me

with his poisoned hope

that destroys me.
