Are we free?

They say that we are free,

But are we?

They say that we can do whatever we please,

But can we?

I stand in the grass,

Staring at that flag.

I stare hard,

As though we are going to battle.

"I am free."

I say as though it actual means something.

There is no response,

Just silence.

I scream at the top of my lungs,

"I AM FREE!"

It didn't change a thing.

I didn't feel any different.

"Why do they say we are free,

If we don't feel free?

If we were really free,

We would feel free. Right?"

They say that I am free,

But am I?

They say that I can do whatever I please,

But can I?
