Are We Modernizing or Are We Deformed?
I wake up, peek out of the window to see the dopeness of the sky
Turn on the tv hoping another black person didn't die
If I walk outside the house, will a gun be pointed at my head
Or as I'm walking to school, or lying in my bed
It's hypocritical to scream " Black Lives MAtter" when we kill ourselves
Then when a cop shoots a black, we place that story on a shelve
We have it as a historical moment, and throw around fake tears
But if a brother kills his black brother, that story gets no special light for years
I mean.. I am greatly appalled by the fighting videos on social media
Females unappreciating God's blessings on them, but idolizing hair from India
Or guys with their pants hanging low, like as if society is a jail house
Running around scamming credit cards, these things shouldn't be allowed!
When will us blacks appreciate who are?
Instead of dehumanizing one another by our own skin, or judging each other from afar
Where is our real pride? The one Martin Luther King Fought For.
Not the videos on Facebook fighting each other showing we're mentally poor
Will we ever love one another? Are We Modernizing or Deforming?
How will we take the lead again if all we are doing is fussing?
How will we be one, if we're killing each other's fun?
One little baby boy just go killed, Fourth of July, Gang Violenece it's enough!
Let's teach our kids better, maybe they can set the meter.
That if love is love, and if we have pride, then we have to stick together
Change how we walk, and change how we talk.
If We Want Equality, Let's set The Groundwalk.
