Are We Not Gone?

Are we not gone?

Are we not the ones alone,

The ones forever told that they are not good enough,

The ones warned against and feared and hated.

To the others, the ones that came before

We are a joke.

We will never prove ourselves.

We will never be good enough, never succeed,

Never achieve.

Why do we try?

Try to earn the respect of those who seem not to respect themselves.

And we do not respect them in return.

Yet we yearn their affection.

All we want is attention, not responsibility.

But they have never given us either,

So why wouldn’t we

Why shouldn’t we

Want both.

We never will win.

We will never achieve the greatness they said we never could.

They laugh at us.

We laugh at us, as well.

We never had respect.

We never will.

They denied from us our chances.

They took us away from ourselves.

So are we not gone?

Are we not gone already?
