Ares

Scarlet sunsets,

Flaming sands,

Blood-red roads lead to oblivion.

Mountains hide

The wretched screams

Torn from a people

Who never again would dream.

Peering through the sands of time,

A vicious god

Holds the people to their crime. What is

This treachery? This endless battle

With no cause in sight? A Holy Land

Laid bare with the ravages of war.

In days of old, he was the God of War-

Cunning, ruthless, and vile.

But always did he fight

With a purpose and a people at his back.

It brings him no joy

To see children starved, families

Torn apart, cities leveled, and

Promises broken.

So dream, my child,

Wherever you may be.

The people have broken you, let

You down, trod upon your kin.

Dream in the hallowed halls

Of heaven, for you will not

Dream on Earth again.

He is helpless here,

For the people have forgotten

He is the God

Of noble war.
