Ariel- Self-Proclaimed Environmentalist

Oh how I wish they’d stop!

As I swim through the murky green reefs

The same ones where Flounder and I play

I spy a glimmer that gives me the creeps

For I know they have thrown their garbage my way

Who do those humans think they are?

I do my best to collect everything

The soda cans and forks

That have posed a threat to the very creatures I love

But once in a while I don’t get there first

They must be stopped!

I scream to my father

But he only tells me to stay away

They must be stopped!

I scream to Sebastian

But he only tries to dissuade me

Nothing will stop me!

For I am Ariel, daughter of Triton and protector of the sea

So I make my way to the human ship

Determined to set the humans straight

At once I am disgusted

By the drunk men that sway back and forth

With not a care in the world

That a fork could end up in a fish’s throat

A storm fueled by my anger, rages

Nearly drowning one of the men

Who only had eyes for his dog in danger

Here before me lied the answer!

I placed him on a log beside his dog

And vowed to find him later

To make my plea

After one last glance

I dove into the water

And swam straight home to prepare my case

Only to see my angered father destroy my plans

So when I heard of a woman

Who would help my cause

I was willing to do anything

Which is why I agreed to her conditions

I would be given three days

Convince the man

But was challenged to do so without the use of my voice

Which could manipulate any man

And to instead convince the man

Appealing only to his humanity

When he found me on the beach

I was so relieved

For I knew the man I saw on the boat

Who was willing to risk his life for his dog

Would agree that what the humans were doing

Was a grave mistake

But the man didn’t listen to the voice of reason

Opting to be persuaded otherwise

By charms and morals

Frustrated I left the humans

And returned home

Only to remember my motivations

that my friends in the sea were more important than my pride

So I set out to convince him!

It wasn’t long before he saw

The error of his ways

And agreed with me

Now we work side by side

To ensure the prevention of trash in the sea.
