Arise!

I was still a young one when it happened.

Still in the chrysalis of childhood,

Waiting for the right moment to emerge.

It took time, as it seems that I was being tested.

Examined by my behavior and outward personality.

Yet through all that was going on,

I had not the slightest clue.

That my next awaited appointment

Would be of a culmination of satisfactory personal efforts

Which would soon surprise me, for I was merely a child.

Oblivious as to what was to come, I was called,

Called by a teacher of mine.

Who bestowed upon me a badge and an orange sash

Both stating “Safety Patrol”.

I was being sent.

I was being sent on a job with my other selected peers

To restore and keep peace to our school.

Assigned with keeping other students safe,

Whether inside or outside the school, or even on the bus

It was time to rise, and become a leader!
