Armed Robbery

If I wear my heart on my sleeve

and you steal it

is it an armed robbery?

I thought the poetry in my eyes

would speak for itself

That when you saw me

Stared at me

You were reading it

And knew how I felt

Did I lose you because

she was bolder?

Did she come out and say

"I like you"

Does she have courage I haven't found?

If you steal the heart off my sleeve

But now she's the one

Hanging off your arm

Is it an armed robbery?

You slipped away

as through a sieve;

Should I put my heart

back on my sleeve?
