Arms Raised

He's an army of one desperately seeking alliance He's an army of one whose only defense is defiance A soldier on the hunt trying to win a war But no one really knows why he's fighting He fires at his help, he's slowly cutting ties He keeps to himself, and from his help he hides He's focused on the battle, slowly losing sight Not seeing that his enemy is inside But little did he notice everyone's red flags They surrendered to his army, guarding what they had Not because they were weak, just sick of fighting back With this man's twisted morals and misguided head So the Allies packed up and all of them went home While the soldier kept on fighting in the field alone He shot fire after fire for the "veteran's throne" Not seeing that the scattered blood was the blood of his own Day by day, fire after fire The soldier was persistent, never growing tired Convinced his "allies" took a break to go conspire As his arrogance and readiness grew higher He trailed through the dirt and fired at their homes They knew words couldn't hurt them, but the sticks and stones That shot fired from his gun could easily damage bone So they joined the soldier's war for a reason unknown The Allies grabbed their guns and started dropping bombs The Allies sought to destroy, and quickly that was done The Allies cheered and beat on their victory drums For the Allies killed the man, and the "war" was won But he was an army of one, desperately seeking alliance He was an army of one, whose only defense was defiance But now the soldier's dead, and the Allies have won the war But can anyone tell me, why were they fighting?
