Art Day
We watched paint dry and talked of city light memories
Nobody is everywhere in Wyoming
We talked of our first inebriation days and friends that had to wash off our wounds in the river
They sat afterwards
We sat aftwewards
We brushed sunsets and chainsmoked through dawns
We revelled in exposing our chests out on roofs
Leave our hearts out to dry
For our brothers
For our lovers
100% cotton coldrinse only
To freeze in water
On icecaps
On rum.
Oh run run run away from your doubt and dysphoria
You are pearl not ceramic
And your marbled corneas add flair
To your burning for evil art
We drank tallboys in the church parking lot
Drunk poetry ensued
Serrated edges subdued
Heart beats portrait heart beats
We made plans for lugubriousness in midJanuary
And we appointed out remedies in museums
All I wanted. All I wanted.
Stoned crows visit us in the New Year
Tinsel covered bones spray life on the sides of Baltimore bees
Gonna look through your bones when the bees come down
Why use google search when jesus has the answers
Our prayers are for less painfully pink water to dip our brushes in
To dip our lungs in
To dip our love in
For when we speak of rapport gained from graduating from a respectable institution
I remind you that you are too grand to fit into an institution
Put your poetry in my ear
Put your dignity on the dirty floor of a public restroom
Put your tongue and your tears and your terror on the line
I don't think we would mind swinging on it so let us on the vine
This is an invitation to breathe
Living in a world of hairdryer noise
So let us
Let us
Let us
Call off the dogs and try jumping hounds
Listen to our cholera sounds
And bask in the purple light low in the company of lovely human beings
