Art in a Day

Let me feel the sun kiss my face

as it rises from the horizon

painting the sky in hues of pink and blue

let's call it a new day

I touch my paints

dripping inks and splats of color

I watch the leaves touched by dew

and recreate nature below

The blowing wind in my hair

rippling waves in the pond

I sit at its edge and sketch the wild

floating ducks and turtles swim away

Dimming daylight drips down

in a sunset closing in on Earth

wrapping the planet in its golden embrace

captured moments in a camera lens

Scattered stars and fireflies

pressed into the ebony night sky

I lay out my art of the day

as the moon glows on a city in slumber
