The Art of Eliciting Judgement

The most important thing to me Is shedding light on a particular addiction And the one medium that helps this come to be Is poetry, the skillful arrangements of diction Why is it so difficult to realize Smoking will eventually kill you Modern culture seeks to popularize Knowing death will soon ensue Don’t wander around for cigarettes There are healthier options Exercise, sleep, no regrets Smoking is truly an addiction Unless you want to end up with lung cancer Abstain yourself from these harmful substances Longevity or a life that is a temporary blur It all comes down to these crucial instances Have you realized that you’re in a recession? I’m sure you currently have a family to feed Some even call it the modern great depression You have to take care of your loved ones and lead Your life is not something that is guaranteed Your thoughts and actions determine your direction You have so much potential and a college degree Why it is so difficult to have some discretion You’ve seen all the dismal PSA videos The people who live with holes in their throat Your liver resembles the outside of an Oreo Learn from these people and take note Your kids never want to speak to you anymore Your breath is now carbon monoxide and other toxins Don’t tell me I never warned you before Damaging your body like this is a costly sin Oh and don’t be fooled by cigarettes that have different tastes Huge companies seek to twist your mind thinking you’re safe In terms of the ingredients, barely anything different is in place The heads of these corporations are disguised in deceiving capes Current media already exposes smoking Do we need more attention from ordinary citizens? You say you want to change the world and be a part of change All you’re really doing is amplifying this habit over and over again Furthermore, smoking hits the hospital hard with immense costs The country is devising ways to increase your taxes You may not know it but you’re contributing to our economy In so many negative ways by the masses Please stop your habit of purchasing cigarettes You have a higher chance of putting your home on fire Make sure your economical needs are met Before you buy a pack and return to your quagmire Don’t hurt your loved ones by your actions They too are influenced by your way of life Smoking may cause attraction, thus a chain reaction It hurts your kids, cousins, and especially your wife Sure, personal stories and advice may seem obsolete But poems are sometimes not to be seen as amusing Poems often reinforce thoughts that may seem offbeat But surely know that these warnings are not confusing
