the art of a sigh

Draw a deep breath.

Breathe a dramatic sigh.

The teacher looked up and then went

back to typing the grades of the class.

The tappity tap of the keyboard

was annoying.

I gave another sigh.

I am bored of this place I thought.

And out blows another sigh.

Then the bell rings - off to another

boring class. I sit down and sigh.

The teacher explains there is a quiz

but I am barely there. I am thinking

of the woods-The smell of pines in my

nostrils And the feel of pine needles

under my sneakers as I take a step

into the great green

world of the forest.

I heave out another sigh.

As I take the test I fill in the wrong

bubble - out comes another sigh.

The hour is the longest hour of

my life. It feels like an eternity.

Finally,  the bell rings -  it is time for lunch.

I heave another big sigh. The same

boring barely edible pizza with week

old cheese and dog food smell

and the same boring cookie

with chocolate chips.

The same boring lunch table.

The bell rings after an hour and

I pour another sigh.

Time for another boring class.

I can’t get that deep breath out.
