The Artist
Please pardon me;
Let me explain
I am not what you think for I seek no personal gain
Do not be so quick to judge these mantles of ingenuity
I merely capture life's obscurities
Now follow me through these galaxies that reach the farthest
There's no need to be afraid to travel the darkness
Open your mind to the reasons why
I capture this world through Dreamer's eyes
Please understand that I mean no harm
I simply wish to venture snug in your arms
I know you must hate me for what I've done
But if you just let me explain, I didn't mean to run
I left as soon as our destination was reached
For I was afraid your expectations I could not meet
I took my mediums and parchments of art
Stowed them in a bag as black as your heart
Threw on a veil to cover the red
Never again will I be left for dead
I left because I felt betrayed
By you and your brethen of dismay
You gave me pardon and I explained
I told you what I thought, I took no personal gain
You know my reasons for my departure
Now please me quiet and continue your marcher
