The Artist

You painted my heart in different colors
Little did I know you signed your name and the masterpiece was over
I didn’t say anything because I had the feeling
That you signed your name for a different meaning
When I first saw you I gave you my pallet
Hoping you would make new colors of the ones I destroyed
You took my pallet and made it fit
You made my blues into a turquoise
So I told you I loved you and you rejoiced
I destroyed my pallet again and I was scared to tell you I brought back the blues and the blood reds
So I kept quiet so you wouldn’t see it
Cause I thought you would leave me and that would be it
Your masterpiece was fading away
Then you met a tailor and your painted her dresses
And I felt a different color
A lonely gray that wouldn’t go away
I was scared to tell you because I felt you changed
I was too scared now
My artist was slipping away
I told him I loved him even if he broke my pallet
But maybe I should’ve just gotten hit....
I miss my artist
But I let him go away
Now the tailor and him can create away
