when did i find the beauty in bruises

in the blue and purple painting of my skin

when did i begin to smile at the blood dripping down my arms

watching the red splatter on the ground

when did i prefer my skin scarred

covered in irreversable permanent pen

when did i love myself broken

when i learned that is the only way i could be
