Artists and Flowers

A flower may wither and wilt in harsh climates

But in warm, bright spaces they flourish and do not decay

An arrangement of flowers is like the arrangement

Of words all alone

They wait to be made whole

A single flower may love the grassy hill

But cannot sway in the dewy mist of the morning

Like a group of stems and petals floating gently

Words are the same way

One word may be enough to

Communicate but it cannot send

Messages of inspiration all by itself

So why not join other words and speak a language

Only artists long to hear

Whispered softly in the breeze

Breeze of a tongue, a crayon

A pencil, a string of words

Together making sweet music

Making harmony and soft melodic bars

So why not go down to the depths?

Reach down to the roots and pull

Explore the world of a verse almost forgotten

In the sinkhole of novels, short stories, plays, and songs

Let's just face facts

We all have past times we treasure

Remembering a poet

Shel Silverstein

The melody of his fluid words

Made me realize

We need to be more like a boquet

And write poetry

So people can communicate inner thoughts

Unwanted, unspeakable desires if only through our words

Channeling a harbor of human emotions

Without being persecuted

Count me in

That's why...POETRY.
