Ashes

From ashes to life, thou hast brought me forth.

Thy love hast made me stand rigid and strong.

My heart has sprung upward and has flown north,

The feeling that I have sought all along.

Before, I dispersed whenever wind blew,

Now I can withstand any foul tempest.

Once decided my love for you is true,

Of any disease, I’ll live through the illest.

Destroyed by the same fire thou lit to construct,

My life embodiment weakened by thee.

But fire I knew not my body could so well conduct,

Or this much love that my heart could see.

From heartache to joy, to heartache so then,

From ashes to life, to ashes again.
