Ashes
I'm sure you feel like you will be long forgotten
That your skin will be nothing but kindling for the fire
And that your bones will be ashes for the air.
I'm sure you feel you will be nothing but a shadow
And that your life wasn't enough.
I'm sure you regret glancing instead of seeing.
All those times just seeing a child's face opening a gift
And freckled sunrises
Or even just a bite of your favorite meal.
Your cremation will never be a forest fire.
Will never ignite souls with sadness,
Will never infect doors with dissapointment,
And will never crush others with hurt.
Your ashes are beautiful just as your mothers.
Placed together once again just as you longed for.
Although I wish you were on this earth,
Heaven now has a wonderful angel that for some reason,
Was greatly needed.
I will never know why you're gone but I do know this...
I forgive you for leaving
I forgive you for putting me through so much
I forgive you for so many things, but...
I will never forget the beautiful person that you were
And I will never forget all the wonderful things you did for me.
Just know that you will never leave my thoughts
And please never fear that you didn't do enough.
