Ashes of Dreams

Fate is a strange thing
The idea that some are destined to be a king
And others to rot, wether they like it or not
Our date with fate so often ends
With broken lives and few friends
Too many die believing the lie
That fate is uncontrolled
And they neglect to take hold
Fate is a concept
That need not be kept
We too often simply give in
And live a life of sin, just to die with a faded grin
Because "it was my fate" to die Young
My song was never fully sung
But fate said die, so why should I deny?
I succumbed to fate
And now it's too late
But to follow fate I left my dreams
And my life ripped apart at the seams
My dreams, ambitions, and hopes just burned
I died, never tried, and now I wish I learned
That fate is a lie, it's unreal
It's just a word we use to hide how we feel
Our fate is an escape we use
When all we ever do is lose
I gave in, I gave up
I drowned myself in a red plastic cup
Fate is just a word
That hides the pain of being unheard
"It's my fate to be nothing" "it's not my fault"
My dreams just came to a halt
My ambitions were useless
My thoughts were voiceless
All because my fate was to be worthless
But thats a lie, I know inside
It's harder to drive when I can just enjoy the ride
After all, if fate is a lie, then tell me why, the good always die?
I can't deny it, fate isn't real
I just can't deal with what I feel
The pain was too great, so I just used fate
But if fate is fake, then why'd my hope break?
My dreams are still burning, but now I'm learning
That fate is what we find
When life turns out unkind
I couldn't take it, and fate just fit.
