The Aspiration of My Mind: A Sonnet by Krystalle Jacob
My mind is a haven for imagination.
No need for sleep in order to be dreaming.
Stories are just constantly streaming.
Visualizing unwritten characters is my daily preoccupation.
Even through heartache and frustration,
My mind is still beaming.
Like the stars, nothing can stop its gleaming,
Since it can withstand even the worst emotional devastation.
Yet as my enemy, Time is never kind,
And growing up too fast should be a crime.
For the clock of life cannot simply unwind,
And Reality will eventually have its prime.
Someday, however, I hope to take this refuge out of my mind,
And let it be a sanctuary for others for all of time.
