Aspirations
I don’t understand the American Dream
It really makes me want to scream.
We climb an imaginary ladder of success
Despite the entire process being worthless.
We push and shove to get to the top
But we never know when it’s time to stop.
We strive to climb higher and higher
And call everyone above us a thief or a liar.
The road to the top will never end
So why do we compete and ignore our friends?
So we strive and strive to rise above
And we often lose sight of the ones we love.
True success is never measured in how much we spend
But in how someone describes you when talking to a friend.
