Assume

Assume that we are all just figments

Of someone else’s tricky little mind

That everything that may appear is true, is just a fraudulent piece of imagination

That we are all just going and speaking off of a script

That we memorized while we were still children

And one day, we heard the director yelled action and we began to speak

And every trial that we go through, is just the director writing that part to see if it will work

And when he realized that it isn’t to his pleasing, he ended it and moved on

But sometimes that one part of the script that he threw away, he couldn’t stop thinking of so he wrote it in again

Assume we are in an author’s book

That he has been writing for years and isn’t finished yet

And every new person that we meet in our lives, are just a new character he thought of

And every person we lose in our lives were just a character he wasn’t working on anymore

And he didn’t know what else to do with them but to just delete them from the story

But we all remember them just from the lingering memories that he forgot to delete

And now the story seems a little incomplete

And when he sends the finished story to the publisher, he realized the author’s mistakes

But kept them in just to keep the story entertaining

Just assume all of this just for a second or two

And it will make you see things differently 

May even make your life more meaningful

And you may even want the author to do better at choosing their characters

But always remember if you ever think you were made for nothing

In one point in history, that author saw potential in your character

And still isn’t done figuring out what he wants your character to be in life

So just assume and know you are meaningful figment

That you are an open book and an actor or actress

That just hasn’t been published yet
