Astronomy

Have you named the stars?

Numbered them one by one?

Brushed against the moon

And tangent to the sun?

Have you closed your eyes

And looked into the light?

Wind not seen nor heard,

Time not day nor night?

Have you gone beyond

The boundaries of your home?

Have you ever been

Utterly alone?

I have not named the stars.

Far too many to see

Float beyond the sky

And send their calls to me.

All I can do is stay

Below what lies above

And do my best to dream

The boundless world I love.
