A little girl staring at a blank wall

sitting only on a sullied pallet

An unclothed man down the hall

looks out from a cage 

A baby boy with a deformity

lays abandoned in a crib

Cries and moans echo

in the ears of the trembling

Hopelessness and dread

fill the hearts of the forsaken

who are tortured

for needless penalty

Misunderstood

Forgotten

Alone

The tears of Heaven rain down

the hearts of flowers wilt

leaves turn red

volcanoes erupt

the free eagle's soul rips

All while passerby avert their eyes

And people go on their daily lives
