Holding the world on my shoulders

One slip, and now it’s gone

The world around me flames and burns

I’m drowning in the ocean

Don’t waste your pity on me

I guess I should have known

I brought this mess upon myself

And now I’m all alone

I’m reaching, crying, sinking, dying

The end of the world came too soon

While I was shooting for the moon

I asked too much, aimed too high

Now it’s time to pay the price

Armageddon came and passed

I’m the one who wound up last

The sky is weeping tears of pain

Seeing me fall and break again

The waves rocking me to sleep

My private sorrows I will keep

Tomorrow morning with the dawn

The world will resume and carry on

I’m floating, swimming, breathing, singing

When I awake the world is fine

But I cannot escape my mind

And though my world is on the mend...

I know, in my soul,

That I will drop the world again
