Atop

You could stand there for eternity
Questioning a purpose
Reliving the silent deaths
The noble gestures
Rereading the etches
How many thoughts
Have I scratched up
on this notepad
I have misunderstood
Your warm face
The kindled words
Every morning
The rays of my world
Outshine my conscience
With hand out stretched
Lingering in hopes to find you
Connecting the lost
Grow today I might
Uncertain though of my purpose
