August 15

I’ll come to the only home i had ever known

Now your grave

I’ll come on August 15th

The lilacs in full bloom

I’ll come dressed in black and blue

My favorite colors and my mood

Cigarettes and black coffee

My offerings to you

I’m sure the sun will shine

And the sky will be blue

Just as it was that August 15th

When I lost you

I’ll hold back tears and talk to air

And hope and pray that you are there

I’ll pluck the lilacs and lay them on the stairs

And leave the cigarettes and coffee there

Ghosts and Photographs

I regret only one thing

I don’t have a photograph of you

Smiling or stern,

Silly or sereen,

Either one would do.

When you were alive I never had a reason to

Now I wish I did

One photograph of you.

On August 15th I’ll visit you.
