Aurora

The stars begin to fade Night wanes, Darkness trembles I awaken Sleep blankets the world This is peace, silence is deafening I rise My wings quiver and twitch They are ready to fly across the sky I turn The time has come, the heavens await The Sun's first rays peek out from the horizon I lift into the air Wind whips through my golden hair It shimmers, and my violet dress trails behind I paint the sky Roses fill the atmosphere with their aroma My eyes close, and I'm surrounded in warmth I drop the petals The Sun rises quicker now Everything is covered in a veil of gold I continue A chorus of yawns break the silence My rays provide the energy of the morn I spread further The sparrows sing their daybreak song Squirrels and tadpoles play in the comfort of the day I smile My wings begin to tire The Sun is strong now, it no longer needs a guide I slow down My lavender gown flows with the wind It blends with the blue of the sky and I know my job is done I descend My feet land gently on a cloud Lying on my back, my hair spills over the edge I rest My name is Aurora I am the goddess of the coming day I bring the dawn
