Australia
My fingertips trace the map,
From my home to yours,
To a far-away place,
Australia.
When you said goodbye,
A part of me withered inside,
The part of me that loved you,
Ached and shriveled away.
I am sad and lonesome,
Because I know it will never be the same,
And I will never be the one,
You will wake up with love in your eyes,
Next to,
On cool Sunday mornings in a busy city in a bed of fresh linen.
And I will never be the one,
That you will want forever with.
But forever with you by my side,
I think that is a lovely way of life,
For without you,
I fear sometimes I may die.
But you are far-away,
As usual,
And cannot hear my pleas,
For you to be here,
By my side,
For what a better way,
To live and to die,
Than by your side.
And I wish,
Somehow, and someday,
We’ll bump into each other on the street,
Like two strangers,
Like stars colliding,
Like fate crossing,
And it’ll happen:
Maybe you don’t have to be,
That one that got away,
Maybe you just could be,
The one that forever stayed,
And we can play out,
Our real life version of that Fantasy.
