An Autopsy

Cause of death: unknown

Vertical incision starting at mid chest down to the abdomen
Parallel incisions directly beneath the collar bones
Peel back skin and pin to table

Suffocation due to the build up of unspoken words in the larynx
Kidney failure due to over filtration of acidic comments from elders and peers
Shattered ribs splintered by the phrase "Not good enough"
a stake driven between each bone
Ulcers obtained from the overbearing anxiety over siblings bearing the same abuse
Liver poisoning from stomaching blows at self esteem
Punctured artery - heart strings are not meant to be plucked at and listened to as if music was made from pain
Displaced vertebrae from feeling like a misplaced object out of line
crooked spine

Examine frayed facial flesh
Shine light on pupils that no longer dilate

Blindness in the eyes from turning a blind eye to fellow victims
seeing that speaking only ever led to bitten tongues and bruised lips
As many missing teeth as there were missing memories
dismissing the decay of canines
the decay of will to repair
Deterioration of parietal lobe caused by the lack of self care
Burst ear drums banging on the internal walls of the brain
as if someone would hear
as if someone would dare
to come close enough to share
the burden.

This is not the eulogy i would have like to have written for you
There is no eulogy i would have like to have written for you

They will not see how abuse accumulates
Like the deadly build up of blood cells in clogged arteries.
Like the unseen blistering of feet until There is nothing left of you but a caluased shell

I have heard it called the snowball effect
But When the snow builds uP on the ground
Your epitaph will only read died of natural causes.
They are not willing to brush off the snow
They are not willing to see how abuse suffocates
How abuse shatters
How it punctures
poisons
decays
bites
blinds
and bruises
more than just the body

But this is not a eulogy.

This is an autopsy

Unpin skin
Stitch incisions
Cover body
Label as natural death

But for my own personal records
Cause of death:        .
