Autumn

The fading shades of red, green, and brown

The sudden sharp bite of the wind

In the early morning I knew it was fall

Sights of quiet celebration fill my heart

Familiar strangers, all realizing the season

In a bright place I enjoyed fall

Darker days and shorter hours

As if the world knew it was changing

In the late evening I knew it was fall

2012, the twilight of an another year

That evening I felt a change in the wind

Again I still wished it was fall

Soon gray skies and damp rains

Were all that welcomed me home

I longed for the cool warmth of fall

Black skies and white snows

It’s cold outside, please don’t go

I like to sit and reminisce about fall

What happened to the peaceful days of fall, the calm before the storm

I cannot stand the loneliness of winter, with no one to keep me warm

I cannot stand the hypocrisy of spring, the spiteful joy that it brings

Deep inside I will always long for the comfort of fall
