Autumn

I stare out the window,

watching the leaves change color.

Green to yellow,

yellow to orange.

I stare with longing,

seeing them fall without care.

Envious of how soft &

pretty they land.

I move from my spot,

shrugging on my jacket.

Stepping out the door,

I breathe in the crisp

autumn air,

walking forward.

The crunch of leaves beneath

my feet,

gets more satisfying as i go.

Foot in front of foot.

Breath after breath.

A cloud of white air,

in front of my face.

This is the season I’ve long been

awaiting.
